On June 4th, our dear friend and recently announced emeritus board member, Wendy Lewis, passed away. For over 15 years, Wendy served on the Boyle Landmark Trust board in many roles, most notably as Membership Chair. It is no surprise to anyone that she oversaw the preservation of her own historic home, Forest Hill. With her at the helm, Forest Hill was restored and placed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as the origin of the Plaque Program of the Boyle Landmark Trust.
Wendy’s positive outlook influenced any endeavor the Boyle Landmark Trust took on. Some of these endeavors included the Wilderness Road Project, Waveland, and Willis Russell Memorial Log Cabin. Last year at our Annual Meeting Awards Presentations, the Boyle Landmark Trust recognized the outstanding work of Wendy and Bob Lewis with the Cecil Dulin Wallace Award. This award represents a lifetime of service to the preservation movement of Boyle County.
We cannot say enough kind words about Wendy Lewis. She was a pillar of the Boyle Landmark Trust, and many other community organizations, standing tall and magnificent while also upholding the Boyle Landmark Trust during times of hardship.
The Lewis Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wendy be made to Boyle Landmark Trust. We are deeply humbled by this gesture. Donations are tax deductible and the Lewis Family will be notified of all donations received.
We will preserve Wendy in all our memories and in our work as we move forward to save Boyle County’s rich historical landmarks.
